Plan your outfit choices with location & weather in mind! If it’s warm out, forgo the sweater and consider a lightweight dress or hat! If there is a chance of rain, wear boots that can get wet so you can splash around and be carefree!
If there is something you’re self-conscious about, speak up early on! Consider the engagement session a trial run for your wedding photos, so you voice concerns and wants. You want your photographer to know these ahead of time.
Consider your home’s colors, and look and feel. Are you planning on displaying photos on your walls? Neutrals & earth tones are great choices to choose from when thinking of the colors you will wear.

Coordinate with your partner’s level of style! The trick here is not to try and “match”, but you want your outfits to compliment each other. Avoid patterns and make sure your shoe wear is for the same party. Aka: Heels with gym shoes you actually work out in, are usually a no-go.
Love what you are wearing! Love how it falls, how it fits, and how it makes your feel. If you are going to be touching and adjusting your outfit the whole session, it’s probably not the right choice.
Bring at least two outfits: one dressy to start with and one casual to end. This ads variety in your finished album and more photos to choose from! Dressy does not have to mean tie or wedding attire, think nice dinner at a friends house. For casual I love how jeans, shirts and neutral sweaters photograph.
