The past year and a half has seen many people adjust their wedding days due to COVID restrictions. One of the main ways couples worked within these new guidelines was to host their big day at a private residence. That is precisely what Michelle and RC chose to do for their October 2020 wedding.
Michelle and RC hosted their entire event at a gorgeous home in Chico’s greenline. The greenline is a cultural boundary that prevents the city from expanding into Chico’s farmlands, meaning all the properties past the greenline have quite a bit of acreage, and most are working orchards. The home that Michelle and RC hosted at was no exception and gave their wedding a feel of being in the country while ultimately only being a few minutes from Chico’s metropolitan areas.
While Michelle and her bridal party got ready around the kitchen counter, RC saw to a last-minute clean-up of their dog, Rosie. Rosie had been a part of RC’s proposal to Michelle, and both she and their other pup were included in the wedding day’s festivities. Once everyone was ready, Michelle and RC had their first look on the property’s gorgeous wrap-around front porch. Michelle also chose to share a sweet first look moment with her dad before it was time for him to escort her down the aisle.
The ceremony was held on the home’s back lawn, with the orchard trees creating a natural backdrop. Michelle’s bridesmaids wore complimentary gowns in shades of lavender and violet and carried bouquets of eucalyptus, baby’s breath, and white and purple florals. One of the bridesmaids also escorted Michelle and RC’s beloved dogs down the aisle, each adorned with a floral collar wreath. One of my favorite things about Michelle and RC’s wedding was how emotional they were. It was so clear how much they loved one another and how happy they were to be exchanging their vows to become husband and wife.
Once their new union was sealed with a kiss, we captured family portraits and additional pictures of the new Mr. & Mrs. before the reception. RC raced cars professionally, so naturally, he secured a fantastic vintage Camaro to whisk his bride away for sunset photos. With all their desired portraits taken, it was time to celebrate. Another portion of the property was transformed into the reception site with tables, strings of cafe lights, and purple uplighting throughout the landscaping. Michelle and RC dined, toasted, and danced with their guests well into the evening before racing off to their happily ever after.
