There are a few ways I connect with clients that I’d like to share with you. These tips apply to any type of photography service, including engagements, weddings, family sessions, and branding.
Trust & Communication
Trust and communication go both ways. If your photographer doesn’t reach out with these things, I encourage you to, to help build a strong foundation.
Things to Look Out For
We all have things we love about ourselves and things we might want to avoid. I always ask my clients about these preferences so I know how to photograph them in a way that makes them feel their best. If these things are not communicated, your photographer won’t know. So if they don’t ask, tell them!
Sharing Your Vision
I like to hear why my clients love a particular location for their wedding so I can make sure to highlight those areas. If you have a mood board or a Pinterest board, I would love to see it! I always want to take my clients’ vision into consideration.
Listening to Your Photographer’s Advice & Expertise
I always let clients know I will prioritize their dream locations, but if the lighting isn’t great, I’ll recommend a better spot. I also have time recommendations for certain sessions based on locations, outfits, and the shot list. All of these factors go into creating a timeframe.
Takeaway
Schedule a pre-wedding or pre-session meeting. This is a great way to connect and review these important notes!
