Hi, I'm ashley.

Planning a wedding ceremony can be stressful, but doesn’t have to be!! With the help of a planner or experienced officiant, you can avoid making common mistakes like we’re going to discuss today.

If you’ve been to any wedding, you know it’s tradition for the guests to stand as the bride walks down the aisle. It’s always a beautiful moment of the bride and groom seeing each other (sometimes for the first time, if they didn’t choose to do a first look) and for the guests to experience watching this couple become one.

But one thing that is often forgotten is, once the bride has made her way to the front, the officiant should ask the guests to be seated.

This mistake is commonly made if it’s the officiant’s first time performing a ceremony. So, if you’re having a family member or friend marry you, make sure you ask them to write that simple phrase into their script! Otherwise… your guests will just keep awkwardly standing!! It’s important that your guests are comfortable, so this will definitely be appreciated by everyone watching 🙂

But don’t worry!! If they forget, just embrace the moment and ask your guests to sit whenever you remember! It’ll make for fun laughs and a silly memory years later.

I shared this tip over on TikTok and how this couple made it work despite the guests standing for a little bit too long, haha! If you’re interested, click here to give it a watch!
