You have just shared your first kiss with your new husband or wife, and you are just introduced to the crowd! You begin walking the the aisle, but people are sitting still, some are clapping but most gathering their belongings to take to cocktail hour. Believe it or not, I have seen this more than you would think. And it has nothing to do with the couple, or the guests they invited. But it has everything to do with the excitement of the ceremony exits themselves!
The best, most exciting, ceremony exits have the guests participating in some way. Some of my favorites have included tossing dried florals, lavender, petals, waving streamers, or holding bubble machines. Doing this means the guests must stand to participate and it makes the exit more of an experience, making it more exciting and engaging for everyone involved!
Below are a few of my favorite ceremony exits I’ve photographed:
LAVENDER TOSS:

BIODEGRADABLE PAPER TOSS:

BUBBLE MACHINES:

WAVING STREAMERS:

I do want to note, if you don’t want to have your guests toss something (or your venue wont allow it), another option would be to have your officiant include this in the speech at the end so that everyone get’s on their feet ready to clap: “Everyone please rise. Please join me cheering for the newlyweds ____ & ____ !”
