Hi, I'm ashley.

Sometimes, having your wedding photographer stay until the very end of the night for a reception exit isn’t in the budget or maybe it will result in overkill coverage of the dance floor (usually 1-1.5 hours is the perfect amount of open dance floor coverage time). So, I absolutely love it when couples make the wedding ceremony recessional exit more exciting! The excitement is already there – the emotions are heightened, you are introduced to your friends and fam as newlyweds! So adding a little extra sprinkle is so much fun.

Below are a few types of ceremony exits I LOVE and a bonus… they’re environmentally safe and kind to mother earth! It’s a win-win!

1. RICE PAPER

Lately, I’ve seen more of the dissolvable rice paper (I’ve heard mixed reviews on clean up, so be sure to check with your venue and make sure this is ok to use!). I love how it floats in the air and it’s impossible for guests to actually peg you in the head with this stuff because it’s so lightweight (sadly, yes. some guests actually think it’s fun to throw rice, confetti or lavender right at your dang head, and yes it’s rude). Also the fact that it floats helps your photographer capture lots more photos during the exit than something heavier that falls to the ground quicker.

2. LAVENDER, DRIED FLORALS AND/OR ROSE PETALS

I may be a little biased toward this idea, simply because Nate and I did it at our wedding, but I looove the look of throwing lavender, dried florals or rose petals. It gives such a classic look to your ceremony exit photos!

3. BUBBLES

Bubbles are a really fun and colorful way to add something to your exit! Whether it’s a ceremony exit or even a faux reception exit, like this couple did, they always make for great images and a fun moment for your guests to be a part of.
