Here in California, having a wedding after September always increases your chances of potential rain. BUT rain does not have to ruin your wedding day as long as you have a plan in place!!
Here is exactly what I tell my clients when they see rain in the forecast:
- It will not rain all day – there are usually breaks in weather so we can plan accordingly and get some photos outside when it’s not raining.
- You will have the most beautiful light ALL day. Overcast and rainy skies offer the most beautiful defused lighting so that is in your favor for sure!
- Bring rain chucks. I know those might not have been the shoes of choice for your dress – but whats worse than anything is having your feet wet and cold while we brave the weather for your photos. We can cover up the shoes with your dress.
- Purchase clear umbrellas. This can be a fun prop that keeps you dry.
- Have a backup rain plan. If you don’t like the plan b at your venue, get a tent. Tents create a beautiful environment regardless if it rains or not. So if you include one in your original design and budget it wont matter if it rains or not.
- My favorite app for inclement weather is Accuweather. Their radar is fantastic and has made me a part-time weather woman when I need to be 😉
In the end, it’s so important to remember that ll that matters is that you are saying yes to forever with your person! With these things in place, it won’t matter if it rains on your wedding day and you can just focus on having fun.
