Hi, I'm ashley.

What is a perfect photography timeline? Getting the photos of your dreams without pulling you away from moments with your favorite people is what I consider the perfect timeline. This requires a buffer, planning ahead, and managing expectations. Let me explain more:

With social media and shot lists, it’s easy to want specific photography moments without understanding the time they take. For example, wanting a first look with your dad, your wedding party and your soon-to-be spouse will take 45-60 minutes total to set up, orchestrate, and photograph.

Here are four tips to help you build the perfect photography timeline for YOU:

  1. Coordinate with your photographer and planner: Ensure they schedule the moments you want. Know how much time each moment requires so you can decide if it’s truly something you want to include.
  2. Be realistic with your family shot list: For each photo, account for 2-3 minutes. This the average from the quick individual shots to the large family portraits. For instance, 30 photos will take approximately 60 minutes. Ensure you want and will use all of those portraits.
  3. Outline your shot list against your timeline: This helps visualize the flow of your portraits and allows you to cut out any redundant or non-crucial photos. I do this for my clients to streamline their timelines.

Bonus tip: Build in extra time for key moments and shots. This allows for organic moments, like hugging a grandparent or catching up with an old college friend, without feeling rushed.

By following these tips, you can ensure a seamless and enjoyable photography experience on your special day.
