From the whimsical florals and the romantic lace dress to the colorful cocktails and pastel pastries, there is no mistaking, this is a spring wedding! This styled shoot beautifully illustrates how an outdoor venue is perfect for a micro-wedding celebration. The bright colors blend beautifully with the lush green backdrop and still read as soft and romantic. If all of that wasn’t dreamy enough, we even had a special guest (a horse) that got his very own floral arrangement.
I, along with a talented team of wedding pros, came together to create this whimsical spring inspiration shoot. Craft And Copper Events made sure that everything was organized and that the overall design was cohesive throughout the shoot. The vast green space at Rock ‘n’ Oak Ranch gives the whole shoot the feeling that there’s not another soul around for miles (super romantic!). A spring shoot wouldn’t be complete without lovely florals and Milwood Florist certainly did not disappoint. I especially love the cascading garland on the dessert table and of course the wreath on the horse! Keep reading to hear more about how all of the tiny details came together to create this unforgettable shoot.
Wedding inspo that’s bursting with color…
Our chosen location was based in Northern California. It’s a horse ranch and wedding venue nestled at the top of a canyon ridge in the outskirts of Sacramento. The environment is filled with boulders, oak trees, and sweeping views of the canyon. The main house has a pool overlooking the valley, and we chose that spot for the desserts and cocktails table. We wanted to highlight spring with lots of bright colors! We chose blues, violets, and shades of pink. Our vision for the palette was to be romantic and vibrant. We kept to accents of glass and acrylic with gold and warm tones. The tablescape included unique plates with gold-printed edges. Each setting had french blue glass, a name tag, and a menu. Items were placed on velvet linens.
The yellow diamond ring used is a stunning cut that complemented the hints of yellow in the florals. The soft blues, pinks, and lavender, as seen in the stationery flat lay, transfers to all shoot scenes. The colors seen in the cocktails and baked goods were intentional. We used bright-colored pastries–macarons and lemon cheesecake for the dessert table and colorful cocktails with floral accents. The calligrapher made a sign that said “amour est doux”, which translates “love is sweet”.
I absolutely loved the floral application at the base of the sweetheart table in the oak tree grove. The florist took a tower approach to the ceremony florals against the canyon edge view. A half-circle of wooden cross-back chairs surrounded the ceremony site. Walter (the horse) was a welcomed addition to the session! We draped a wreath around his neck for bride and groom sunset photos. We finished the shoot with celebratory individual champagnes and toasted to a beautiful shoot!
