Jenna and Ryan are making the most out of quarantine life. Like many couples, the pandemic caused them to postpone their wedding until 2021 when hopefully they’ll be able to gather with all their family and friends. Instead of letting their delayed nuptials get them down, this adventurous couple decided to embark on a cross country trip. Jenna and Ryan purchased a Volkswagen Westfalia Vanagon Camper and completely renovated it to tour the country together. A week before they headed out on their road trip, I met Jenna and Ryan at Mount Tamalpais State Park for an engagement photo session.
Mount Tamalpais is the highest point in the Marin Hills. Jenna and Ryan chose this state park not only for its sweeping hillsides but also for its views of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay and city skyline. San Francisco is where Jenna and Ryan met and have lived up until their van adventure. We started the day near Trojan Point to make sure we could capture photos with all the backdrops Mount Tamalpais had to offer.
I loved how at ease Jenna and Ryan were with each other. You could tell how completely comfortable they are together. They were giggly and sweet and having so much fun as we traversed the rolling hills of dry grass. Jenna wore a gorgeous white Reformation dress with a red rosebud pattern. It looked effortless yet striking against Mount Tamalpais’ color palette. Ryan accented his fiancée’s style with khakis and a denim button-down shirt with rolled sleeves.
Once we finished shooting on the hillside, we headed back to Jenna and Ryan’s van, which they have lovingly named Lucy. We captured some fun moments with Jenna, Ryan, and Lucy all together. It felt only appropriate to end the session with the three of them driving away.
I loved getting to work with this charming couple. I admire their sense of adventure and willingness to leave their jobs to head out on the open road together. I’m excited to follow along on their adventures and see what the world has in store for Jenna, Ryan, and Lucy!
