Connecting with clients and being there for milestone moments is such an amazing part of being a photographer. I love that after every session I feel like I’ve gotten to know my subjects. So, it is extra special when I get to work with someone I already know and love.
I have known Kait since middle school. She is one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. I was thrilled when she found an amazing partner in Marc. I wanted to be their wedding photographer but I was already booked on their date. We have been waiting for an opportunity to work together and I was more than excited when that opportunity came in the form of a maternity session! I just know that Kait and Marc are going to be the best parents.
Kait and Marc chose to do their maternity session in Upper Bidwell Park. Bidwell Park is one of the largest city parks in the United States taking up a total of 3,670 acres in Chico. The park is split into three distinct sections: Lower, Middle, and Upper. Each portion of Bidwell Park has a unique feeling and personality. Kait and Marc selected Upper Park because of the soft look of the rolling hill, wide-open sky, and tall grasses dried golden by the summer heat.
Kait and Marc’s neutral palette accented with pinks and purples created a romantic feeling to their shoot. Expecting a baby could be a stressful situation particularly during a pandemic, but this couple exuded nothing but a calm excitement for their coming addition. As a nod to the current times though, Kait and Marc did take a few photos wearing their masks. I cannot believe how gorgeous they look even with those masks on! I wore a mask as well throughout the session and we maintained a social distance to ensure Kait, Marc, and Baby stayed as healthy as possible. It felt odd not to hug my dear friends at the end of the session, but I feel so honored to have captured these cherished moments for them!
