Hi, I'm ashley.

When I asked Ally and Mitchell what details they most wanted to remember from their wedding day, they responded: “The Barn, the guests, and the dancing.” I can say with certainty that no one who attended Ally and Mitchell’s late May wedding at The Barn at Pheasant Trail Ranch is likely to forget any of those details.

Built in 2020, The Barn at Pheasant Trail Ranch is Chico’s newest premier wedding venue; and it is stunning. Nestled among a working walnut orchard just a few miles from downtown Chico, The Barn is a white post and beam barn that has a look and feel of being a century old while boasting the amenities of its modern-day construction. I was SO excited to be working at this venue. I have worked with the venue owner on her website, branding, and photography needs throughout The Barn’s building process.  Ally and Mitchell could not have chosen a more memorable or magical place to host their wedding.

Ally and her bridesmaids got ready in The Barn’s bridal loft. The bride had previously described their wedding look as both “rustic” and “casual.” Ally’s stunning lace gown (paired with white leather cowboy boots), the bridesmaid’s beautiful ivory dresses, and the understated elegance of The Barn made it clear that this wedding day’s look was going to be a very chic version of rustic and casual. Once the girls were ready, they met up with the boys and the families to take portraits before the ceremony.

Ally and Mitchell had their wedding ceremony on The Barn’s lawn which overlooks the walnut orchards. While the lawn is only a few steps outside of The Barn’s structure, the ceremony space and encompassing trees create an atmosphere where the wedding party and guests can feel wholly connected to their surroundings and the present moment. At the end of the lawn’s aisle, Ally and Mitchell added an archway adorned with white florals, sprays of greenery, and a crowning 8-point buck skull. It was the perfect personal addition to the ceremony space’s lush backdrop.

As soon as their “I do’s” were said, Ally and Mitchell started spending time with their loved ones. Because we had taken all their portraits before the ceremony, they maximized their time with their guests. I always love when clients elect to have their wedding day flow this way. It always seems to allow couples to have the most fun and remain present with one another and their guests. Ally and Mitchell were wholeheartedly enjoying themselves and their company throughout the reception. They only stole away from the crowd once to capture some sunset shots together in the orchards.

Ally and Mitchell had said that when they looked back on their wedding day, they hoped to clearly remember The Barn (check!), their guests (check!), and the dancing… Oh, the dancing! As soon as the dance floor opened, everyone’s boots hit the floor and got right to work dancing the night away. Ally, Mitchell, and their guests created such an epic dance party that I personally will not be forgetting any time soon.
